Personal Roots & Background

Dedicated to Neighborhood Elementary Schools

My roots in Chula Vista’s public schools run deep. I attended Chula Vista elementary schools as a child; my son attended district schools, and many members of my extended family have children enrolled in CVESD today. I also served on the Board of Trustees for the Leonardo da Vinci Health Sciences School in Chula Vista.

These personal connections, combined with my 25 years of classroom experience, give me a deep understanding of our schools from the perspectives of a student, parent, educator and board member.

Neighborhood Engagement

Accountability and Parent Partnership

Strong elementary schools require active partnerships between certified educators and neighborhood families. Katina believes district decisions must happen in public view, backed by accessible financial reporting and regular town hall conversations across Chula Vista.

From expanding after-school enrichment to ensuring classroom teachers receive essential physical materials, her advocacy focuses entirely on student outcomes and practical administrative clarity rather than soundbites or administrative jargon.
